Totol Books app for iPhone and iPad

The Tales of Mangki and Totol app bring together a series of fictional adventures. These fictional adventures are enriched with aspect of the Torres Strait Island culture. Mangki and Totol do not represent anyone except a desire to promote Torres Straits’ rich and unique culture in a fun and interactive manner.

The original story of Monkey and Turtle, which I have title A twist of the original, was introduced around early 19th century when the first European teachers were appointed to work in the Torres Strait. Monkey and Turtle was an education tool, used to raise awareness on greed.

The series follow how Mangki and Totol became friend. Using Torres Strait Island culture the two friends goes hunting, fishing and collecting foods, which are dependent on the season.

These books were written to overcome homesickness and depression of living in the city, far away from the beautiful homeland of Torres Strait.
